I'm excited but nervous about drafting this first blog post.
The launch of Flowers by Mares and Meadows is imminent and it's super exciting - new flower beds have been prepped, hardy perennials have been planted, annual seeds have been (and are continuing to be) sown and the seedlings are coming on strong and fast with the warm weather.
Business admin is well underway too - the website is coming together, the social media accounts have been started and I've already found some businesses and florists that are keen to stock my flowers.
But I'm only human so all those doubts and worries about anything and everything that could go wrong are whizzing through my brain at pace. Despite my best efforts to push them to one side.
While I'm at the forefront of 'Mares and Meadows' there are some other important team members you ought to know about.
There's Abbey - she's the one who fuels our flowers with her pony poo:

Betty - the one who ensures that we eat regular meals, even when we've got distracted by the fun of flower farming:

Then there's Lyra - the one who makes sure we're having fun, that any water has been quality tested and visitors are welcomed with enthusiasm.

Last but not least, there's me. I've been growing cut flowers for more years than I can remember. I just love the process and the inevitable smiles from the end result...a gorgeous bunch of flowers that fill a room with colour and scent.
Alongside my creative streak, I've a fascination with science - from ecology and botany to soil science and microbiology.
Through flower farming I get to blend all these interests and passions and produce something meaningful and beautiful.

Congratulations on your new business Nat - can’t wait to be able to purchase beautiful flowers grown so close to home.
